I realize this has been discussed on this forum before but it seems like years ago and therefore I idea it worthwhile to start fresh.
If moderators come across fit to move this topic, I sympathize.
I am searching for a magnetic scotch and soda but have not found much at all.
Tango seems to have one, merely the reviews on Tango's are somewhat hit or miss in terms of quality.
The major coin guys practice not seem to behave this in stock and I am reluctant to inquire for a custom item due to potential cost for a one off particular.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Pretty sure the Johnson ane is magnetic. Says it comes with a bang band. Isn't that for magnetic locking coins?

No, Johnson's S&S is not magnetic. Blindside rings are typically for locking (tight-fitting) gaffs, not only magnetic ones.

To exist precise, those links are both specifically to Johnson'due south Magnetic Silvery and Copper, which is technically a dissimilar detail than Johnson's Scotch and Soda set (whether magnetic or non).
Their departure: both use a half dollar, but the erstwhile's copper money is an English penny, whereas the latter'due south copper coin is a Mexican centavo, which is smaller.
(Looks similar Roy Kueppers markets his own not-magnetic Scotch and Soda, which evidently uses an English language penny, but I think that's a fleck unusual use of the typical terminology. So far as I know, most S&S sets utilize the smaller Mexican centavo.)

I bought the Johnson one you mentioned --cheers for helping me locate one --I realize the Eng Penny is a bit larger than Centavos but I think information technology will be fine.

Johnson is hands down (for me) the best bang for your buck and a life time warranty that has been proven in my experience.

The problem with the magnetic 1, I remember, was that the insert could spin in the [ a scrap, and it felt sorta light. The S&S with the bang ring was a better handout and a more than solid feeling coin. Ive had both over the years, and while I liked the ease of the magnetic version, information technology didnt experience quite correct to me, though it would piece of work skilful plenty in performance. Perchance the sets are better fabricated now? I e'er thought it was a pretty adept idea.

I have always had the gear up with the bang ring and I agree it feels pretty solid. I think I will but stay with that.
If it ain't broke don't ready it!

I really like Captain & Coke 2. Magnetic and it uses normal coins, a quarter and penny.
I dont believe they are being made anymore merely you can discover them fairly easily on the secondhand market place.

I got the Tango poker chip scotch and soda. I didn't really similar them. 1 thing I noticed was that the designs on the chip and shell didn't line up when put together.

Johnson gives great quality for the price! I have scotch&soda and magnetic half/english language penny: magnetic does accept some "play" to information technology, and I wouldn't allow spectators to handle more than than briefly (but does allow to be tossed onto mat casually without worry of coming autonomously)... S&South locks beautifully (even in the spectators hands) and tin can be examined without worry.
